Our paediatric otolaryngologists are skilled in performing a variety of procedures to
diagnose and treat ear, nose, and throat disorders in children. Some of the procedures commonly adopted
in Paediatric ENT include:
-
1
Tonsillectomy
Tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove the tonsils, which are
lymphoid tissues located at the back of the throat. It may be recommended for children with
recurrent tonsillitis, sleep-disordered breathing, or obstructive sleep apnoea.
-
2
Adenoidectomy
Adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove the adenoids, which are lymphoid tissues
located at the back of the nose. It may be recommended for children with recurrent adenoiditis,
chronic sinusitis, or obstructive sleep-disordered breathing.

3
Myringotomy and Grommet Insertion
Myringotomy is a surgical procedure used to create a small incision in the eardrum to relieve
pressure and drain fluid from the middle ear. Grommet insertion involves placing a small tube
(grommet) into the eardrum to ventilate the middle ear and prevent fluid accumulation. These
procedures are commonly performed for children with recurrent middle ear infections or
persistent fluid in the middle ear.

Laryngo-Tracheo-Bronchoscopy (LTB)
Laryngo-tracheo-bronchoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate the upper and lower
airway structures, including the larynx, trachea, and bronchi, using a flexible endoscope. It
allows for visualization of anatomical abnormalities, assessment of airway function, and
collection of tissue samples for biopsy.

Laryngotracheal Reconstruction
Laryngotracheal reconstruction is a surgical procedure used to correct airway stenosis or
narrowing in the larynx and trachea. It involves various techniques such as cartilage grafting,
laryngeal keel placement, and tracheal resection and anastomosis to restore airway patency and
improve breathing.

Neck Mass Excision
Neck mass excision is a surgical procedure used to remove abnormal or concerning masses located
in the neck region. It may be performed under general anesthesia and involves making an incision
in the neck to access and remove the mass while preserving surrounding structures and minimizing
scarring.
